Artist's Comments
I seem to have a fixation with UFO's.  I needed to have 
some fun and this guy is the result.  The Alien guy is a 
metanurbed model, with seperate objects for the tunic, arms, 
and eyes.  They are all textured using the Silhouette fresnal 
shader from the 3d Lab in combination with the Super Cell 
shader. The glass dome uses the Realitools Fresnal shader 
twice, once for transparentcy and a complementry setting for 
reflection.
The UfO body also uses two Realitools fresnal shaders, one 
for diffusion and a complimentary setting for reflection.  
I also added a probably unnecessary 'Metal' shader out of 
the shaderman package.
The Firey sunset I snagged out of the images/backdrop folder 
of some object collection, and aplied it as a reflection map.
As much as I love all the fancy shaders, when I tried to 
render shadows  through the transparent surface onto a shaded 
surface it either crashed, locked up, or made my clocks run 
backwards. Problem is that once you start using fresnal 
shading, nothing looks good with out it.
