"Grounded"
This picture was again taken from an old, unfinished Lightwave scene. I
often start a picture with a theme in mind, but the final element seems to
be missing, so I put the scene away for another day. When I read of the
theme for the LWML competition, `The beauty of flight`, I thought it may be
interesting to make a flip-side, negative portrayal of flight. Namely, the
failure of man/machine to compete with the real masters of flight....birds.
Here we see 2 very-miffed robot pilots, the body-language suggests all is
not well, they`ve crashed their craft and one of them gazes longingly at a
distant planet...perhaps their intended destination ?
While the sulking and the `who`s to blame for the crash` debate goes on
between the two robots, eagles soar above them, almost mocking in their
effortless flight. These represent the beauty of flight.
About halfway through the scene, I re-read Davids theme guidelines and saw
that he was asking for `above ground` views of flight. Well, after
consulting him he left it to me as to whether I send the picture.
I thought it may provide a little change from the other entries, which, if
they stick to the guidelines, will present the SUCCESS of flight. But
everything has a negative, right ? So here`s the picture...
LW 5.00, a hint of Skytracer, Eagles and smoke added with Photoshop.
